View Photos, courtesy of Blake Tsuyuki I just got back from Montreal. That's where Canada hosts its biggest international tournament, "Rendez-Vous Canada."
BC Athletes that competed in this tournament were:
Karmen Larson (-52 kg)
Christine Tsuyuki (-52 kg)
Kimi Suda (-52 kg)
Tess Lanzarotta (-63 kg)
Sylvia Hausot (+78 kg)
Blake Tsuyuki (-60 kg)
Justin Imagawa (-73 kg)
Sacha Lamontagne (-81 kg)
Jason Zazalenchuk (-90 kg)
The only one to place from BC athletes was Blake. He lost in the finals
to Jeremy Lebris of France. So he ended up with the second place.
There were 9 countries attending the tournament. Colombia, Scotland, Great
Britain, USA, Switzerland, Mexico, Japan, Haiti and Canada.
There were 19 athletes in Blake's division. He defeated Dagher from Quebec, then
Sanchez from Columbia and then Liggett from the USA to advance to finals against Jeremy Lebris from France.
I Googled Jeremy Lebris and it looks like he is a seasoned athlete. He might be the French Champion.
Christine injured her right knee and left foot in her first match and
the Judo Canada medical people recommended that she withdraw.
Both of them, if healthy, will compete at the US Open in Fort Lauderdale next weekend.
